You make it sound as if Kevin Smith will never again make a slapstick poop and fart joke comedy. As the historian I give you credit for being, wouldn't that be a foolish statement to make? A historian should be able to see the future from the past. And I don't claim to know Kevin Smith in the least. We know that you do, so you have a pretty damned good pulse on the direction of his films. I know he's said that's in for Jay & SB, but do you buy it?

I would think his progression of films would definately lead him in the direction you say, into making more powerful and more meaningful films, but to "close the book" on your past ... on what got you to where you are today, I'd think that's foolish. I bring up exibit A ... Joe Piscopo. Exhibit B ... Shelly Long. I'm not judging, just sitting here thinking that at some point we will see another funny as hell comedy come off of his pen. Maybe it's just the part of me who expects a LEd Zepplin reunion with bonham's kid playing drums. And that still might happen!

I also wanted to thank you for clarifying the Dogma/CA order in which they were written. It makes much more sense now and shows Kevin's maturity in changing the order. Just my 2 cents, while I sit here reading in place of working.
