I think he wanted to make the film as audience friendly as possible, and it was his decision to cut it to approx. 2-hours for the theatrical release. The "Untitled" version might be his PREFERED cut of the film, but it was his decision to cut it to 2-hours for theatrical release.

: With the movie being oh so long. If Cameron had his way, it would have been the entire Untitled, instead of the Almost Famous that came out...so, in the DVD set, the first disc is the movie he wanted to make. The second is what the studio made him make.
