: Rule 3) The more mundane the subject, the easier it is to photoshop. Kev's daughter was not chosen because it was Kevin's daughter. She was chosen because she was the best photo to use submitted that day. She is in a goofy pose, against a relatively easy background (easy to remove/change), and well illuminated. Now, the folks who know who Kevin Smith is may use that in the photoshop, but most don't know, or don't give a shiat about Kevin.
I haven't seen anything beyond the one photoshopped picture of her with "I Eat Cock" ... but, if it had nothing to do with her being Kevin's daughter, why use a still image from "Clerks"?
I think people have over-reacted, but wasn't that the point? Why else would you do something that's so specifically tailored to get a reaction and isn't even funny? I mean, it's vaguely funny only if you know that the girl is his daughter, which is why you're probably bullshitting when you say it wasn't chosen because she was (if that was the best photo submitted, you should look harder, because we get three or four pictures a day posted on this site, under "Caption this photo", which would all be better, funnier, and actually make sense without knowing detailed specifics about who the people are).
I don't care, the picture doesn't bother me, and I agree with you that some people here are too into it ... but, at the same time, it's a four year old girl, and you'd feel pretty angry if somebody took a picture of your four year old daughter and made it perverted and stupid and unfunny, and a lot of people on this board feel protective of the VA folks, extended family included.
And the fact that you not only did that stupid "tourist on 9/11" thing, but are citing it as a previous example of how funny you guys are and how your site "doesn't have any rules as far as comedy goes" is stupid and sad. Let me give you one more free piece of advice ... make a rule, at least one rule, that says that your attempts at comedy be funny. That'd be a good rule, one that would still support free speech in all its forms.
