: Here's something I find ironic about The Passions of Christ. The movie has been accused of promoting anti-semitisim. The church is defending it saying that seeing the film won't infulence people to hate Jews. Arn't these the same people who complained that all the violence in movies is what infulences people to kill? True I'm not an anti-semite and I don't think I'll become one after seeing this movie. But I'm also not a killer and I also don't think I'll become one after seeing Resiviour Dogs. Why can't the church see the irony and stop bitching at Hollywood for making films "too violent"?
Many of the Jewish organizations coming out against a film they haven't seen, are the same ones who supported the painting of the Virgin Mary made out of feces that hung in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. That was artistic expression, but a cinematic retelling of the last day in the life of a Jewish man who preached love is unforgivable. Now, i'm not religious, but i know hypocritical assholes when i see them.
