Kevin, I've seen the Evil is an Abstract cut, I've watched it, memorized it, thought of using it for a monolougue in the next school play, and watched Dogma again to see what you put in place of the whole speech. The only question I have to ask is this:
Why on Earth would you cut such an amazing speech?
Just look at the whole subject matter. In terms of just the romantic plot of the story, it's this indesputable reason for why existence should be destroyed, since man does nothing but pollute what ever he can, and then refuses to take responsibility. It really makes you think, 'hey, if we're such scum, why on earth would we want to stop Loki and Bartleby?'
What's even better about the speech is that it's all true lore (or as true as lore gets). it's been written down somewhere by judeo-christian writers. Hell was originally cold and lonley, and then somewhere along the lines of Human History, we turned it into a really hot place with mean red guys with tails and horns. Jason Lee was born for that speech alone, he is the only one who could ever make that speech work.
And the production! Jesus!what better to go along with a speech about hell and suffering that flames, distorted music and screams?
You cut a good one, Kevin, I just want to know why
