: That's the point, dickhead.
: It's next to impossible to get the contact information from the "parties involved" unless you have a production in place that's mildly successful.
You did this to prove the point that if you can't contact somebody to ask for permission to do something, you eventually gain the right to do it?
Shit, anyone who wants to break into my apartment and steal my DVD player... please ask first so I can say "no" because... I like my DVD player.
: It's only when you have a show that gets reviews that will show up on a google search engine that legal parties get involved. But still, even after threat of legal action, we don't have Mr. Smith's contact information.
Uhm, I don't understand your analogy. Of course if it's a secret, you're not going to get sued... that's why it's... called a secret. If you stole my DVD player and you didn't tell anyone and left no evidence, hey, you're watching my copy of UHF up in Bakersfield, digging on the Phil Hendrie-voiced trailer.
But if you show it in an auditorium and hang signs all over the town "hey everybody, come and watch DVDs on the player I stole from Mike! Since I'm not charging you anything and since he never told me no, it's okay!"
Where are you going with this? I don't get your point.
And... of COURSE you don't have Kevin's contact information. You flagrantly and ignorantly broke the law, stole his writing and went around advertising you and your friends illegal cribbing of his writing.
You stole from the guy AND are acting like a totally unprofessional child about it... would you want someone like that to have your phone number to prank call you, your e-mail to spam bomb you, your address to hang outside and take pictures of your house?
No, no, no.
You couldn't get in contact with anyone to gain permission... you could've taken that as a hint. But no, you just went off and broke tons of laws... and you're expecting, after all this, Kevin and his lawyer to sit down at the table, after the fact and give you the rights for a buck?
I've never been to Bakersfield. Is there something in the water up there?
Mike
