I lost my wallet back in 1992 and someone found it and was able to rack up over 20,000 of charges on credit cards I didn't own. I only found this out about a year ago. I had to hire an investigator to find out who the person was cause the police had no way of tracking them. They used a public computer to make purchases. They finally caught the bastards but now I have a fraud alert on my name for the next 5 years and that means I cannot make any purchases without showing 3 forms of ID....Making internet purchases is almost impossible for me cause I have to call the merchant from my home phone and tell them that yes, it is me.
Don't do it...if you have friends or family members with a computer ask them to make the purchases for you.
