Fact is, they weren't human. The only reason they became human was so they could die. Perhaps conventional confession methods don't work when God him(her)self actually banishes you from heaven. Besides, in confession, you ask for forgiveness if you're actually sorry, not just if you're pissed off that you got in trouble. Neither of them seemed too penitent. And, as we all know...

"Only the penitent man shall pass...penitent man...the penitent man...KNEELS!"
