In interesting and somewhat related news, a film for the Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett collaboration Good Omens (which is in much the same humorous British style as Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's series, except that it's a religious end of the world rather than a science fiction one) is being worked on even as we type. Any fans of Douglas Adams's work should greatly enjoy the book, and I'm hoping the film will be somewhere near as good.
